Prayer of Confession 4/18/21

Oh Holy One, Creator and Sustainer of all that is and all that will be,

we turn to you as your humble servants.

We confess that we are weary from a pandemic that has taken over three million lives.

Strengthen us for the road ahead.

We confess that sometimes we turn our eyes from the gun violence that plagues our nation. we pray for families and communities grieving, who are angry, who are dehumanized, who yearn for justice.

Give us eyes to see and ears to listen.

We confess that our judgement comes too quickly before compassion, that in our search for truth we cling to the easy half truths or false news that is more convenient for us to hear in the moment.

Cleanse our minds and hearts, God, and make us more like you.

We mourn with our friends and family who are sick and we pray for your healing mercy to surround them. We celebrate all of who you are and all that you have given us.

Oh Holy One, Creator and Sustainer of all that is and all that will be,

we turn to you as your humble servants.

For forgiveness, for guidance, for your light to shine in the dark places, for your justice to prevail over all things.

God we turn to you in faith, knowing that you can transform anything, even us.

And as witnesses to all that Jesus did for us, we pray together the prayer that he taught us…
